Don't forget to attend the opening of Tivoli: A Place We Call Home this Thursday, February 11 at BHS from 5:30-7:30 pm. Curators Scott Brathwaite, Delphine Fawundu-Buford and Anthony Clouden, Jr. will open their multi-media exhibition of photographs, words and video documenting the people of Tivoli Towers, a 35-year-old apartment building in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. On Friday, NY Creates opens their annual Red Show Valentine's Craft Fair. The Fair features handmade jewelry, clothing, pottery, soaps, sweets and other treats for your Valentine. The two-day Craft Fair will be open during BHS' regular open hours on Friday, February 12 and Saturday, February 13. Plus, for the second year in a row, starting at noon on Friday, the Red Show will also hold a Red Velvet Cake Taste-Off with judges including Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and BHS President, Deborah Schwartz. The judges will determine who gets the crown for the best red velvet cake in Brooklyn - be sure to stop by and get a taste of the cakes yourself! All visitors to the Craft Fair receive free admission to the Brooklyn Historical Society throughout the Fair.
The Brooklyn Historical Society is located at 128 Pierrepont Street, at the corner of Clinton Street in Brooklyn Heights. Subway: 2,3,4,5 to Borough Hall, R to Court Street, A, C, F to Jay Street. Hours: Wed. - Fri. and Sun., 12 - 5pm. Sat. 10am - 5pm.
